Lilley Place is proud to mark its 20th year of dedicated service in promoting and improving mental health. Established in 2003, the practice has been committed to providing compassionate care, evidence-based therapy, and innovative solutions to support mental health and wellbeing. The Cancer Wellbeing Centre was introduced in 2017 and the inclusion of a range of allied health providers followed. Lilley Place has now expanded to over 40 team members making it one of Brisbane’s largest private mental health services.
The practice’s 20th-anniversary celebration will take place on Saturday, 9 September, at Figs on Sylvan, Wests Rugby Union Club, Toowong. The event will be a gathering of the Lilley Place team, alumni, professional colleagues, friends, and family, with an anticipated attendance of more than 150 individuals.
Dr. Peta Lilley, CEO and Founder of Lilley Place, reflected on the journey: “Our aim has always been to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the individuals we support. Over these 20 years, we’ve strived to provide responsive and effective mental health care when it’s been needed the most.”
As part of the anniversary celebration, Lilley Place is highlighting the importance of high quality and timely mental health care given the demand for services, fuelled further by financial pressures, an unnecessarily complex system to navigate, and recent changes to Medicare sessions for seeing psychologists.
Dr. Lilley expressed concerns about the impact of a reduction in sessions as this change for individuals, especially for those with moderate to severe mental health problems, means they may make limited gains, be at increased risk if they are unable to continue accessing private therapy, and have no viable alternate treatment options as public mental health services (particularly for children and adolescents) are overrun with lengthy wait times and eligibility criteria that are unachievable. Despite these challenges, Lilley Place remains dedicated to its mission of providing life-changing care.
“We have been privileged to serve our community for two decades,” said Dr. Lilley. “Our commitment to responsive, evidence-based care is unwavering, and we will continue to advocate for a system that supports individuals seeking help.” Dr. Lilley added, “We believe that everyone deserves to feel better.”
